Live & UNCENSORED

From the Catskill Mountains to Johnny Carson’s couch, Buddy Hackett made America laugh!

A Las Vegas institution for over five decades, his often risqué stories were softened by his unique delivery.

In the 80’s, HBO and premium cable service was the new thing. HBO courted Buddy for close to a year before the deal was struck and the date was set. Always a pioneer, the king of stand-up comedy performed before a live audience in a first-of-its-kind, Comedy Special for the cameras of HBO.

The program was nominated for a Cable Ace Award.

On the heels of much acclaim, Buddy and HBO paired again in ’85 recording Buddy Hackett Live and Uncensored 2.

These are those programs.

Stanley

STANLEY was broadcast live by NBC every three weeks out of four during the 1956-57 television season and was the last program of its kind to be broadcast live during ‘The Golden Age’ of television when the industry was in its infancy.

Produced by Max Liebman (Your show of Shows), starring Buddy Hackett and introducing Carol Burnett!

The show stars Buddy Hackett as Stanley. In the fourth episode Stanley gets a girlfriend, a recurring role played by Carol Burnett. It was one of Carol’s earliest roles, and helped launch her career. The chemistry and comedy between Hackett and Burnett is classic!

The series revolves around Stanley Peck, the gregarious proprietor of a newsstand in a plush New York hotel. As a connoisseur and confidant to the hotel’s guests he keeps busy from basement to penthouse. His aptitude for getting involved in other people’s lives keeps him perpetually in hot water but his basic good nature almost always lands him on top restoring everyone’s faith in the common man.

FIND A RISING STAR… a dedication and nod to the many fine talents that came together in the making of STANLEY.  Quotes from now famous writers and cast , many of whom got their first big break on STANLEY. These great talents all contributed and worked on the series:

Writers: Woody Allen, Russell Beggs, Pat Cherr, William Freidberg, Lucille Kallen, Bill Manhoff, Neil Simon, Danny Simon, Arne Sultan and Marvin Worth

Don Pardo, the voice of NBC announces on every episode.  He doesn’t identify himself until the close of the eleventh episode with his famous, “Don Pardo Speaking”
